Ad-Dustour: Bshara commends Syria's position towards Arab issues
Palestine-Syria, Politics, 1/20/2004

The Palestinian intellectual Azmi Bshara described Syria's policy as "wise, brave and adhered to the national and pan-Arab firm principles."

In an interview given to Jordanian Ad-Dustour newspaper published yesterday, Bshara stressed that "Israel does not want just and comprehensive peace which ensures its complete withdrawal from all the occupied Arab lands," and removing the Israeli settlements from the occupied Syrian Golan.

Bshara warned against the attempts for partitioning Iraq, saying that "what is happening in Iraq is very dangerous and should be dealt with carefully." He asserted that the American-British occupation of Iraq encouraged Israel to escalate its provocative measures against the Palestinian people showing stubborn stance regarding peace initiatives even those of the Americans.
