Al-Assad confers with Saudi FM

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received on Monday, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.

Al-Faisal conveyed a message from Crown Prince and Deputy Premier Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz to President al-Assad on the joint coordination between Syria and Saudi Arabia regarding issues on the Arab arena.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the current situations on the Arab arena, means of activating the role of the Arab League and the continuing consultation and coordination between both states in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister, Farouk al-Shara, and Saudi Ambassador to Syria, Baker Bin Abdullah Bin Baker.

In an arrival statement to SANA al-Faisal expressed pleasure to visit Syria, asserting that his visit came in the framework of continuing coordination between the two states due to the critical situations the Arab region is passing through.

For his part, al-Shara stressed that al-Faisal's visit enhances bilateral relations between the two states.

He added that the exchanged visits between President al-Assad and Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz reflect deep-rooted brotherly relations between both states, as well as its importance in achieving security and stability in the region. Al-Shara pointed out that the meeting of the joint Syrian-Saudi Follow-up Committee will be held at the end of the current month.
