Keftaro meets with Italian Institution priest

The Grand Mufti of Syria, Sheikh Ahmad Keftaro, received Friday Chairman of Italian Piatoi Angelico Institution, Priest Jan Mary Bin Benjamin, and an accompanying delegation, in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Syria, Mohammad Reza Baqeri.

Keftaro talked about religious tolerance and the importance of coordinating cultural, scientific, and religious efforts to enhance the noble human values, and enhance communication and dialogue in order to boost the international law and avoid repercussions of wars.

He also stressed the necessity of helping the Palestinians to attain their legitimate rights, and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as capital.

For his part, Bin Benjamin praised Syria's "pro-peace policy," and her stances towards "just and comprehensive peace," calling on the Islamic and the Christian worlds to show solidarity and coordinate efforts to face up to "warmongers," pointing out to the Iraqi people's sufferings under occupation.

Baqeri highly lauded Syria's stances towards the establishment of just and comprehensive peace in the region, expressing the Iranian government's gratitude for Syria's condolences and aid during the Iranian ordeal of the recent destructive earthquake that struck the Iranian city of Bam.
