Mubarak, De Villepin discuss the Iraqi, Palestinian files
Egypt-France, Local, 1/8/2004

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak will discuss today with the French Foreign minister Dominique de Villepin latest developments in the Iraqi and Palestinian files, and the Egyptian efforts in this regard.

De Villepin arrived yesterday in Sharm Esh Sheikh, Egypt, which overlooks the Red Sea, accompanying families of the French victims who were killed in the plane crash off the coast of the city, in order to take part in the eulogy ceremony of the victims.

De Villepin will represent his government in two masses that will be held for the victims. The French ambassador to Egypt, Jan Claude Koseryan, said that one of the two masses will be held on land, and the second at sea near the crash.

The Egyptian president and his French guest will also discuss during the talks which will be attended by the foreign minister Ahmed Maher the future of Iraq, and the peace process in the occupied lands. Latest developments will be reviewed.

Meantime, the arrival of the families of the French victims coincided with the continued relentless efforts to get out the two black boxes of the plane.

A high ranking officer in the French navy said that the rescue teams identified the position of one of the two boxes of the crashed Boeing 727 plane.
