Morocco-Iran, Economics, 1/6/2004

Moroccan fisheries minister, Tayeb Rhafes, met in Rabat Monday Iranian trade minister, Mohammed Chariat Madari, on means to foster bilateral cooperation in the sector of fisheries.

"We have pondered different cooperation possibilities in fisheries, especially training, processing and expertise trading in aquaculture, Rhafes told MAP news agency following the meeting.

We have also agreed to exchange visits between fisheries professionals so they trade information on potentials and the different possible forms of cooperation, he said.

The minister added that Madari invited him to inquire about Iran's progress in aquaculture, where Iranians acquired outstanding experience.

Mohammed Chariat Madari is leading his country's delegation, which comprises 22 experts of several sectors and over 30 businessmen, to the 4th meeting of the high joint commission of economic, trade, technical and scientific cooperation.

Ghellab and Madari voiced resolve to enhance cooperation in the field of transport, especially maritime.

"The two parties are currently probing a draft agreement in the field, which will be signed during coming weeks, the department of equipment and transport said in a release.
