Syria and the UN resolution on mass destruction weapons
Syria-UN, Politics, 1/2/2004

Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara indicated on Thursday that the Arab group at the UN has understood from the deliberation of the U.N. Security Council regarding Syria's proposed draft resolution to free the Middle East of mass destruction weapons, that the blue inked draft resolution will not be withdrawn, but will remain as such until proper circumstances would be available for the passing of the resolution, due to the vital importance of freeing the region of mass destruction weapons and care given to the security, stability and welfare of people of the region.

Al- Shara ordered the Syrian permanent representation at the United Nation to direct a message with this effect to the chairman of the U.N. Security Council and to UN. Secretary General Kofi Annan and to be circulated as an official UN. document.
