EU envoy stresses need to resume negotiations on Syrian- Lebanese tracks

European Envoy for Middle East peace Marc Oti has stressed the necessity for resuming negotiations on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks in order to realize just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

In a statement to Saudi Okaz newspaper published on Friday, Oti said that Syria is an important state in the region, asserting that the EU is exerting efforts to resume negotiations on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks as soon as possible, to achieve stability and peace in the region.

Regarding the separation wall Israel is building in the occupied Palestinian lands, Oti renewed the EU rejection to the building of the wall considering its as an obstacle in front of resuming the negotiations and the implementation of the Roadmap to peace.

He also renewed the EU stance that calls for the necessity for Israel to halt the establishment of the settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories considering them a big obstacle in front of resuming the negotiations, stressing that the EU had boycotted the Israeli products which are planted in the Israeli settlements.
