US continued support to peace efforts in Sudan

The Sudanese foreign minister, Mustafa Othman Ismael, received a telephone call on Tuesday evening form Senator John Danforth, the special envoy of the US President George W. Bush for the peace process in Sudan .

During the telephone call, Danforth stressed the commitment of the US administration to supporting the peace operation in Sudan.

For his part, Ismael stressed the commitment of the Sudanese government to continued efforts made to establish peace.

The Sudanese minister explained that the government hopes success for the talks, which are taking place in Nivasha, to reach a peace agreement within the coming period of time.

Talks during the telephone call also dealt with peace talks currently taking place in Nivasha in Kenya.
