Egypt to set up first solar power station in Mideast, Africa

Egypt at the beginning of 2004 will set up the first solar power station in Mideast and Africa.
The 127 mw power plant will operate by solar power in daylight and natural gas during night time.
The plant will supply 445 new communities, 9000 feddans of lands allocated to societies and companies with light and electricity.
About 500 mw will be added to the national network after operating 2 gas units at North Cairo power plant.
