Polish president in Iraq suddenly, two American soldiers, Iraqi translator killed

The American army announced the killing of two its of its soldiers together with one Iraqi translator and wounding two other soldiers when an explosive went off implanted on a road trodden by a military vehicle yesterday. No other details was given.
The incident coincided with the arrival of the Polish President to Babel base which includes 2500 Polish troops in Iraq. It was a sudden visit for the Polish President who was accompanied by his defense minister and the chairman of the national security bureau. Poland runs one of the four areas in Iraq, with a contingent including Spanish, Ukraine, and Latin American troops.
In Musil to the north of the country, several American soldiers were wounded as they were exposed to an attack by light weapons at the hands of gunmen in a sedan car in al-Yarmouk quarters. The soldiers detonated the car which the attackers used after they had fled away.
In al-Najaf, news reports quoted sources in the Iraqi police that explosives exports defused yesterday morning one explosive implanted in the house of the chairman of the Iraqi governing council Abdul Aziz al-Hakim and chairman of the higher council for the Islamic revolution.
Meantime, the American occupation forces continued breaking in operations in search of resistance members. These forces attacked earlier yesterday al-Atiqa mosque in Baghdad's quarters.
Witnesses said that the American soldiers arrived in three military vehicles escorted by one Apache helicopter, and inspected the mosque in search of weapons.
The occupation forces announced the detention of hundreds of persons suspected to be linked resistance men, in breaking in operations since the arrest the captured Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, in Rawah town on the borders with Syria and al-Anbar governorate, Baqouba and other areas.
In the northern parts of the country, thousands of Kurds demonstrated demanding the annexation of the oil-rich Karkouk to Iraq's Kurdistan district. The demonstrators who gathered in the downtown of the city, chanted slogans in the Kurdish language asking for having the city as being the heart of Kurdistan, and to teach the Kurdish language in its schools.
The demonstrators who took the streets at the request of their parties, raised Kurdish flags and a large American flag but no Iraqi flag was seen. The Kurdish Badshmargha forces, at the sight of the American forces guarded the demonstrators who came from various cities of Kurdistan.
