Workshop in Egypt on human rights in the Gulf states

Deliberations of the workshop on human rights conditions in the Gulf states are continuous in Cairo. It was opened on Thursday with the participation of several human rights activists in these countries.
The organizers of the meeting said that the workshop which was organized in Egypt amid the rejection of the Gulf states to host activities of such kind, under the pretext that international and regional conditions do not permit that.
The organizers explained that the actual reason behind this rejection is the strong reservation the Gulf states show in dealing with this issue, despite the declared political reforms. However, reservation was the prominent common trait prevailing in the Gulf states in this forum.
Views of the participants are varied concerning conditions of human rights in the Gulf. Some say that the war against what is called terrorism left positive impact on the Gulf states, embodied in the talks about political reforms in these states.
Others, on the other hand, see that improving conditions of human rights in the Gulf states as continuing to be linked to making legislative reforms in the public freedom areas.
However, the human rights condition in Iraq won the interests of the participants in this workshop.
