Moroccan-Chinese trade exchanges valued at us $400 mln in 2002
Morocco-China, Politics, 12/19/2003
Moroccan-Chinese trade exchanges were valued at $400 million (4 billion Dhs) in 2002, Moroccan exterior trade minister, Mustapha Mechhouri, said in Casablanca Wednesday, deploring the weakness of exchanges between the two countries.
At the inauguration of a Chinese trade expo, in presence of several Chinese officials, Mechhouri added that during the first 7 months of 2003, bilateral trade exchanges were estimated at 3 billion Dhs (US $300 million), underlining that the exhibition is an appropriate opportunity for Moroccan companies to probe partnership with Chinese enterprises.
The participation of seventy Chinese companies in the expo translates the interest that Chinese economic operators grant to Morocco, the official said, underscoring that Moroccan authorities are ready to facilitate administrative procedures and to provide the appropriate conditions for investment in Morocco.
