Naguib Mafouz awarded kavafis International prize

The Greek government awarded Naguib Mahfouz kavafis International Award on the occasion of his 92th birthday anniversary. This award is named after the well -known Alexandrian Greek poet. It has been awarded only to the great international media men.
The awarded prize was hand over to Mahfouz by the Greek ambassador in Cairo at his house in Al Agouza.The handing over of the award and the signing of the anti -war document was attended by the writer Mohamed Salmaowy and Minister plenipotentiary and envoy of the Greek foreign ministry Lambernidis Stafros.
On this occasion, Naguib Mahfouz received an invitation from the Greek Foreign Ministry to join the international personalities who have signed the document that calls for preventing war such as UN General Secretary kofi Annan, Amr Moussa, and Boutros Ghali and that during the coming Olympics in Greece.
Following the signing of the document Mahfouz said that he hopes that all wars in the world will stop.
