Sudanese security forces broke into al-Jazeera office in al-Khartoum
Sudan, Politics, 12/18/2003

A Sudanese security and police force on Tuesday evening broke into the office of al-Jazeera TV station in Khartoum, giving no reasons for doing so.

The force confiscated the live transmission equipment, despite the fact that the director of the office showed documents of the license to the deployment of the equipment into Sudan.

The force also took the director of the office, Islam Saleh, but did not explain whether this measure was a detention or a summoning.

The office had received several threats recently from the Sudanese security, due to the fact that certain political sides are not please with al-Jazeera's coverage of events taking place in Sudan.

Worthy mentioning al-Jazeera started as from yesterday to broadcast a series of programs under the title "the Sudanese scene," in order to discuss the file of peace in Sudan. The program hosts government and opposition figures.

Worthy mentioning that Saleh was exposed earlier to an attack while covering a political activity.
