King Mohammed approves members of equity and reconciliation commission

Morocco's King Mohammed VI has approved the composition of the Equity And Reconciliation Committee, a body set up last Nov. 6 to pursue out-of-court settlement of past human rights abuses related to forced disappearances and arbitrary detention and complete a fair and equitable rehabilitation of victims.
A statement of the Royal office says the Committee, chaired by Driss Benzekri, secretary general of the human rights advisory council (CCDH) and founding member of the "justice and truth forum" comprises 16 members. Eight members are from the CCDH and eight others are figures from outside the Council.
The creation of the Equity And Reconciliation Committee was recommended by the CCDH and approved by King Mohammed VI in accordance with article 7 of the Dahir (decree) organizing the CCDH.
The eight members from the CCDH are Ahmed Chaouki Benyoub, lawyer and vice-president of the Moroccan Human Rights Organization (OMDH), Abdelaziz Benzakour, former chairman of the Moroccan bar association, Mohamed Mustapha Raissouni, former chairman of the Moroccan bar association, Mbarek Bouderka, Human rights activist at associations of Moroccans living in France, Mahjoub El Haiba, University professor of human rights, Latifa Jbabdi, chairwoman of the Union of women's action, Mustapha Iznasni, journalist and founding member of the Moroccan Human Rights Organization (OMDH),
Figures from outside the CCDH are:
Abdellatif Mennouni, Magistrate at the Constitutional Council, professor of constitutional law,
Brahim Boutaleb, University professor, historian
Mae El Ainaine Mae El Ainaine, first chairman of the court of appeal of Laayoune,
Salah El Ouadie, writer and human rights activist,
Abdelaziz Bennani, OMDH Former president, leader of the Euro-Mediterranean human rights network,
Driss Yazmi, vice-president of the international human rights federation,
Abdelhay Mouedden: University professor of political science
Mohamed Nechnach, physician, member of the international committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
The release says the sovereign will officially dedicate at a later date the committee members.
