Sahel-Saharan communities council

The 10th session of the executive council of the Sahel-Saharan Communities council (CENSAD started in Tripoli, Libya Thursday.

The two-day session is probing the recommendations adopted by CENSAD's ordinary session held in 1999 in Syrte (Libya). The recommendations mainly concern the free circulation of goods between the Community's member countries.

Besides, participants are examining internal security in the CENSAD space and proposals made by experts and commissions in this sense.

CENSAD groups Egypt, Djibouti, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Senegal, Eritrea, Chad, Central Africa, Gambia, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo and Benin.

Created in 1998, CENSAD projects to set up an enlarged economic union under a development plan that complements national development plans of member countries, particularly in agriculture, culture, energy and industry.
