Syrian citizens of Golan renew rejection of Israeli law
Syria-Israel, Politics, 12/15/2003
Syrian citizens in the occupied Golan reiterated absolute rejection to extend the so-called "Israeli law" to cover the occupied Golan, renewing objection to Israel imposing "Israeli citizenship" on them, and describing the hostile practice as a plot to seize the land.
In a statement on the 22nd anniversary of the ill-famed "Israeli law" on the annexation of the occupied Golan, which fell on Sunday, the Syrian citizens vowed to "continue struggle to repel the aggression," and "stick to their land and national identity until victory and liberation."
They also condemned the so-called "Syria Accountability Act," labeling it as part of "pressure by the U.S. administration on Syria to abandon her firm, principled stances towards the Arab Nations legitimate causes." The statement also called on the Arab states to side with Syria, in face of threats and challenges she is exposed to. It urged the UN to shoulder responsibility towards the Middle East situation, and to deter Israel, "the real aggressor which ignores the international community's resolutions."
The people in the occupied Golan pledged to carry on struggle until liberation of the occupied Arab lands in the Golan, South Lebanon, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with the Jerusalem as capital, and the end of the occupation of Iraq.
