Russian delegation in Russia to study the question of debts

Russian diplomatic sources in Damascus disclosed that a new round of talks between Russia and Syria started on Tuesday in order to solve the question of debts pending between the two countries, ever since the collapse of the former Soviet Union, estimated by the Russian sources at 8 billion dollars.

The sources said that a Russian delegation, including the assistant foreign minister for the Middle East affairs Alexander Sultanov and the first assistant for the Russian finance minister Olo Gaieve, are visiting Damascus to discuss this subject, and that meetings were held with each of the Syrian prime minister Naji Otari and the minister of economy Muhammad Ghassan Rifaee.
