Saudi Arabia, Local, 12/2/2003
Saudi Arabia's ministry of the interior announced yesterday that it had identified two of the executors of the suicide attack against "al-Muhayya residential complex" in Riyadh on November 8th, which resulted in killing 18 persons including 7 Lebanese. The two are Saudis and are wanted for security related issues. The ministry stressed it had also identified the sides behind the attack.
A statement, by the ministry issued by the Saudi ministry of the Interior, said that "the identification was made through identifying the DNA of the executors of the explosion who are Ali Bin Hamid Ma'badi al-Harbi and Nasser Bin Abdullah Bin Nasser al-Sayyari."
The statement added that both of them are of Saudi nationals and wanted for security matters. The statement did not explain the number of persons chased over being involved in the attack whose executors used some 300 Kg of explosives. It indicated the place where the operation was prepared, and that the color of the car was altered in a rest house in al-Daar al-Beida ( Casablanca ) quarters.
Riyadh accused al-Qaida organization of carrying out the explosion. The statement said that the "investigation sides came to know about the sides which stand behind this operation and follow up measures are ongoing." He added that the security sides concerned are following up the executors of "this criminal attack and they will be caught and brought before the justice."
On the other hand, the Saudi daily al-Watan said yesterday that al-Thurayya company for satellite communications, which takes the United Arab Emirates UAE as a headquarters, provided the Saudi and American authorities with secret information about subscribers suspected to be members in al-Qaida organization.
The paper quoted sources close to the company that there is a sort of close cooperation between several Gulf governments which own considerable share in the company, and the Saudi and American authorities, in following up names of the network subscribers, in an attempt to limit the possibility of enabling certain terrorist organizations to have telephone lines that are not continuously monitoring these groups.
