Egypt: al-Wafd boycotts complementary legislative elections

The Egyptian opposition al-Wafd Party said yesterday it will boycott complementary legislative elections, due to be held on December 25th. It accused the ruling "Democratic National Party" of seeking to monopolize the parliament, seats which were evacuated in November, by the resignation of parliamentarians found to have had escaped military service.
Al-Wafd newspaper, mouthpiece of the party said that "al- Wafd party decided to abstain from nominating any member in the Wafd party in these circles because it does not recognize the opening of these nomination."
