Brazil opposes American unilateral sanctions against Syria
Syria-Brazil, Politics, 11/29/2003
Brazil's foreign minister Celso Amorim announced that his country opposes any sort of "unilateral sanctions." This was a reply to a question on his country's stances concerning the American sanctions against Syria.
Brazil's foreign minister said that the policy of BrazilŐs President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva "is based to encourage cooperation and settlement, rather than revenge acts, especially unilateral revenge actions." The Brazilian FM was replying to questions addressed by foreign correspondents during a meeting with President of Brazil during which he announced he will make a tour on Syria, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Libya.
The Brazilian president announced he will discuss during his tour next week the possibility of convening a summit between south American states and the Arab states next May.
The Brazilian president will, as from December 3 to 10, hold a tour leading him to Syria, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Libya.
