Bush in unexpeted visit to Iraq to celebrate thanksgiving with the troops
Iraq-USA, Politics, 11/28/2003

US President George W. Bush stressed yesterday, during his participation with the American soldiers in Thanksgiving celebrations in Baghdad, that the American forces will not withdraw from Iraq and will remain there until it completes its mission.

Bush who visited Baghdad suddenly said: we did not come thousands of miles, nor pay a dear price in losses inflicted on us, defeat a dictator, and liberate 25 million persons, just to withdraw before a gangsters of thieves and criminals.

Bush added addressing some 600 soldiers from the first armored contingent and the airborne 82 contingent that" those who attack the coalition forces and kill innocent Iraqis are defying us.. we will win because our cause of just." In his encouraging speech to the American soldiers Bush said "you are defending the American people against danger and we are grateful for that," describing what the American army is doing in Iraq as a great job.

Bush, who is considered the first US President to visit Iraq, extended a message to the Iraqis calling on them to permit what he called the opportunity of rebuild their country.

During his visit which was only declared after his plane took off from Baghdad's airport on the way back to the US, Bush met with four members of the Interim Governing Council in Iraq.

This visit, which lasted just for two and a half hours, was totally embargoed because of fears on the safety of the American president from the escalated resistance against occupation.
