Israeli forces besiege Bethlehem, Palestinians doubt Sharon's intention
Palestine-Israel, Military, 11/24/2003

The Israeli occupation forces imposed curfew on al-Sawahera town situated between occupied Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

News reports said that the Israeli forces cordoned city of Bethlehem and several villages, and that it cordoned the site of the explosion which resulted in killing two Israeli security men while guarding the "seperation barrier" under construction on Saturday.

The occupation forces justified this measure as falling in the course of searching for the executors of the attack. The two guards were killed in a nearby place when they were guarding equipment in a construction position near the barrier built by Israel on the other side of the West Bank. The two killed persons were working for a private company in charge of guarding the controversial wall which crosses the Palestinian Abu Deis suburb.

Israeli military sources said that Palestinians opened fire at the guards giving no further details. There were other guards who retaliated the fire against the attackers who fled.

A group belonging to al-Aqsa group calling itself "Jenin groups" -- a group declaring itself for the first time -- issued a statement in which it confirmed responsibility for the attack.

In the city of Jenin, Palestinian medical sources said that a ten-year old boy was killed by a bullet of the Israeli soldiers.

The sources said that the child, Ibrahim al-Jalamenah, was hit in his chest as he threw stones at Israeli soldiers who retaliated by opening fire during an incursion operation to the west of Jenin.

In Gaza, the Israeli forces killed one Palestinian from the Islamic resistance forces, Hamas, while trying to implant a bomb on a road trodden by Israeli vehicles, near an area forbidden for the Palestinians, adjoining the "seperation barrier" to the east of Beit Hanoun, according to Israeli military sources.

In a later development, the Israeli TV 2 said that the Jordanian security forces detained one gunman who tried to sneak through the borders to Israel. The occupation forces refused to confirm this news, while the spokeswoman for the Jordanian government said she does not know about the sneaking incident.
