Al-Assad confers with US task force on Lebanon delegation

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday received in Damascus a Committee of Working for Lebanon's ( Task Force) delegation chaired by Thomas Nassef.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in the region, the role the USA must play for reviving peace process, putting an to the settlements, occupation and killing perpetrated by Israel.

"Talks also dealt with the important role the Arab, Lebanese and Syrian expatriates can play for exposing the Arab points of views to the US people and to undermine the Zionist's propagandas which distort Arab civilization, history and tolerance," the official Syrian news said.

President al-Assad expressed Syria's keen interest to continue dialogue, because he believes that it is the base for establishing just, balanced, and true international relations. Concerning Lebanon, al-Assad stressed that Syria backs Lebanon's independence, freedom and sovereignty. In addition, Syria always seeks balanced and strong relations that ensure the national unity and the sovereignty for each country, as well as protect their security and stability.

The delegation's members for their parts expressed their willingness to act on the American arena in the interest of Syria and Lebanon, and to present the real picture of Syrian history which represents a unique example of tolerance among religions and cultures. Present at the meeting was Expatriates Minister Buthaina Shaaban.
