Amir of Qatar opens Shoura council session

Amir of Qatar, Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani opened on Tuesday the 32nd session of the Shoura council. In a speech he delivered on this occasion, he outlined the characteristics of the next phase of the comprehensive development operation taking place in the country.

He also reviewed key achievements realized in Qatar during 2002.The Amir of Qatar stressed to members of the Shoura council, and in the presence of members of the municipal council and members of foreign diplomatic crops, the importance of adapting to accelerating international changes, stressing the importance of rationalizating consumption and savings in order to "ensure a good and stable life for future generations."

In his speech, Shaikh Hamad defined his country's internal and external policy, and its stances concerning regional and international issues. He stressed care to strengthen relations with all the Arab states in order to withstand risks and challenges faced by the region.
