Nasrullah: negotiations with Israel to be in secret
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 11/18/2003

The secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party Sheikh Hassan Nasrullah said that a new round of negotiations was held with the German negotiator in a deal for exchanging prisoners between the party and Israel.

Nasrullah said in a statement that it was agreed with the German negotiator that the course of "negotiations will continue to be secret in this critical phase in order to ensure better atmosphere for reaching a positive and definite result."

Nasrullah explained that the objective of this new round of negotiations is the "attempt to find out the needed treatment of points that are still pending," especially the deal to include releasing the longest held Lebanese prisoner in Israel, Samir al-Qintar.

However, the deal to exchanging prisoners between the two sides was about to be completed until the Israeli government decided to exclude al-Qintar from the deal.

Nasrullah set a precondition that the deal will include all Lebanese prisoners including al-Qintar ( 41 year old ) who was sentenced for 542 year imprisonment in 1980 after he was accused of sneaking to Israel in 1979 and killing three Israelis there. Nasrullah said that the party will not accept new criterion.
