Iraq neighboring countries final statement and official document at the UN

The permanent representatives of Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Kuwait and Jordan have sent a memorandum to the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, and to Chairman of the UN Security Council calling for generalization of the final statement of Iraq's neighboring countries Foreign Ministers meeting recently held in Damascus and considering it as an official document at the UN.

Representatives of a number of states at the UN appreciated the results of the foreign Ministers meeting which stressed on the necessity for the restoration of Iraq' sovereignty and independence as soon as possible. The representatives lauded Syria efforts exerted to make the meeting succeed in dealing, objectively, with the ordeal which Iraq is facing.
