Al-Ra'i al-Aam: Hashem legitimizes National Resistance against occupation
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 11/10/2003
Former Rector of al-Azhar University, Ahmad Omar Hashem stressed on Friday that the national resistance against the occupation with its all forms is legitimate and can't be described as terrorism referring to the necessity for distinguishing between terrorism acts and the national resistance.
In a statement to Kuwaiti al-Ra'i al-Aam newspaper, Hashem said that it is a great injustice to describe the martyrdom operations in Palestine as terrorism asserting that the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation is legitimate and should be supported until restoring the Palestinian legitimate rights.
He also stressed that the resistance operations in Iraq against the American occupation are legitimate calling on the American occupation forces to withdraw immediately from Iraq in order to enable the Iraqi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
