Ben Ali calls for international protection of the Palestinians

Tunisia's President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has called for ensuring international protection for the Palestinian people from "the aggression it is exposed to daily" and called for preserving Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In his inaugural speech at the works of the 15th international seminar organized by the democratic constitutional party in Tunis on Saturday under the title "the Euro-Mediterranean space and expansion of the European Union: challenges and opportunities," the Tunisian president said that ensuring stability for the people of the region "should be devoted to solving the grave conflicts, especially the just cause of Palestine and the rights of the militant Palestinians to restore their legitimate rights and establishing their own independent states with Jerusalem as a capital in perpetuation of international resolutions and ending Israel's violations of the principles of the international law and UN resolutions concerned."

The Tunisian President added in the speech which was delivered on his behalf by the first deputy chairman of the democratic constitutional party Hamid al-Qurawi "we call again for the protection of the Palestinians against the repeated violations and grave aggressions they are exposed to daily." He continued "It is certain under these circumstances to preserve Iraq's sovereignty and unity of its soil and dealing with the catastrophic humanitarian conditions it suffers as soon as possible."
