Jordan: Major looting case submitted to the state security court

The Jordanian government has submitted a large looting case to the state security court as a violation to economic security against a person who looted several millions dollars from "Philadelphia Bank,"

The looted money, estimated at more than 80 million Jordanian ( USD 115 million dollars), with the number of persons accused to be involved in the case estimated at 50.

The Jordanian daily al-Rai quoted well-informed sources as saying that three attorney generals in the court will investigate and disclose the implications of this case. They are col Muhammad Hijazi, Lt. Mahmoud Heyasat and Lt. Raed al-Qudat.

The looting case of Philadelphia Bank was disclosed during the two past months and then the court submitted the case to Amman's criminal court.

The sources added that this is the third largest embezzlement case in Jordan in 30 years following "al-Petra Bank" case in which member of the Interim Governing Council in Iraq Ahmed Chalabi is accused of being involved in, and the case of banking facilitations in which former chief of Jordanian intelligence Samih al-Batteikhi is accused together with the Businessman Majd al-Shameylah among others.
