Morocco's olive production expected around 800,000 tons

Morocco's olive production is expected to reach around 800,000 tons this year, compared to 450,000 Tons last year, which makes a 78% rise, according to first estimates of the agriculture and rural development ministry.
This quantity will produce some 80,000 Tons of olive oil and 110,000 T of industrial cooking olive oil, the source said, linking the significant improvement to the favorable climate this year.
Prices are also expected to drop by 1 to 2 DH for a kilogram of olives and by 10 to 12 DH for a liter of oil.
olive orchards cover 80,000 hectares in Morocco that produce 65,000 Tons of olive oil in 2002, i.e. a 3.2% rise as compares to 2001.
