Palestine-Israel, Military, 11/1/2003

One Palestinian student was hit by the Israeli occupation soldiers bullets on Friday evening after he refused to stop at an Israeli military barrier at the entrance of Nablus to the north of the West Bank.

A Palestinian medical source said that the Palestinian youth was strongly wounded in his leg and underwent surgery in a Nablus hospital and is not in critical condition.

Earlier witnesses said that Israeli soldiers positioned at the entrance of the city of Bethlehem opened tear gas to disperse Palestinians who were trying to head to Jerusalem to perform prayer at the courtyard of al-Aqsa mosque.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad movement stressed in a festival held in Beit Lahia town to the north of Gaza on the 8th assassination anniversary of its founder and secretary general Fatehi al-Shiqaqi, its persistence to continue resistance and rejection of any truce with Israel.

In another development, the US embassy in Tel Aviv said that the Department Of State allocated a sum of five million dollars for information leading to knowing or detaining the executors of the attack against the American diplomatic convoy in Gaza in October that ersulted in killing three American security guards while the fourth was strongly wounded.
