King Mohammed launches annual fast-breaking meal distribution operation

Morocco's King Mohammed VI launched this Thursday at the Islamic charity association in Casablanca the annual fast-breaking meal (Ftour) distribution operation spearheaded by the Mohammed V solidarity foundation.
The nationwide operation will cost 84.5 million DH (around US$ 8.5 million) and will benefit 43,300 persons in urban areas and 409,200 families in rural areas.
In cities, 1,299,000 meals will be distributed to old people, handicapped persons, widows and destitute persons while in rural areas the operation will consist in donating 20 kg of flour, 5 litters of edible oil, and 4 kg of sugar to needy families.
The sovereign also handed out to two Casablanca-based associations for handicapped persons equipment, worth 671,548 DH (around US$ 68,000) donated by the Mohammed V solidarity foundation. The donation includes computers, hearing-aid equipment, office supplies and medical equipment that went to an association for deaf-mute persons. The Amal association for physically-handicapped persons received wheel chairs and hearing-aid equipment.
