European Union: progress to association agreements finalization with Syria

The Spokesman of The European Union commissioner for foreign political affairs announced in Brussels yesterday that progress has been achieved in the latest round of the Mediterranean - European Association Agreement negotiations with Syria.

The Spokesman of Commissioner Chris Patten expressed to reporters on Thursday hope that an agreement would be soon reached between EU and Syria.

He described EU's relation with Syria as good adding that the two sides had held a several rounds of negotiations and that Patten recently paid a visit to Syria where he had called for the necessity of speeding up the signing of the agreement
