Morocco pleads for adoption of a UN reform strategy
Morocco-UN, Politics, 10/29/2003

Morocco's delegate to the United nations Mohamed Bennouna called on Monday for the adoption of a new strategy to reform the United Nations.

The United Nations reform requires a strategy that defines clearly priorities that would enable it to achieve its objectives, he said before the UN general assembly.

"Serving humanity and guaranteeing prosperity for millions of people who suffer from poverty, ailments and other devastating scourges should be the major objectives of our collective actions to reform the UN while preserving its basic values," underlined Bennouna who was speaking in the name of Group 77 and China.

The Moroccan diplomat added that the reform should be accompanied by a sustained effort and a strong resolve to strengthen collective action and realize the Millennium development objectives.
