Lebanon receives a prisoner from Tel Aviv; Israel, Hizbullah exchange bombardment
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 10/28/2003
The Israeli warplanes yesterday raided Lebanese villages in Kafer Shouba and al-Khureiba area, near Rashayya al-Fakhar which adjoins the occupied Shebaa Farms.
News reports in Beirut said that the Hizbullah party intercepted the Israeli warplanes. The raids came after the Israeli artillery bombarded Kafer Shouba town, and the villages of Halta, Rashayya al-Fakhar, Kafer Hammam and al-Arqoub area.
In a statement, the Hizbullah party said that groups of the Islamic resistance attacked Israeli positions in Rweisat al-Alam and al-Sammaqa, and Ramtha in Shebaa Farms and the hills of Kafer Shouba by direct weapons and direct hits were achived.
The last attack by the Hizbullah party against Shebaa Farms which is occupied by Israel since 1967 goes back to August. On August 10th, Israeli planes raided the outskirts of Lebanese villages after the killing of one Israeli when Hizbullah fired an anti plane missile against north Israel.
On the other hand, news reports in Beirut said that the Lebanese security forces received through the ICRC, one of the detainees in Israel. A security source stressed that the name of the handed-over detainee is Dian Oweida.
He was abducted two years ago on board of a ship near the Syrian- Lebanese territorial waters on charge of transporting weapons and ammunition.
Worthy mentioning that a deal to exchange prisoners between the Lebanese Hizbullah party and Israel has become in its final stages. However, Hizbullah denied to have any link to the issue of handing over the said prisoner.
