Madrid: releasing Allouni under bond

The Spanish authorities yesterday released the correspondent of al-Jazeera satellite station in Qatar, Teiseir Allouni, who was accused by a Spanish judge of belonging to al-Qaida organization.
The Spanish news agency said that Allouni was released at a guarantee for health reasons. The court of the main Spanish criminal court issued the release decision of Allouni at a guarantee of 6,000 EURO, stressing that "in light of the medical report of the doctor."
According to the released decision, Allouni who has the Spanish nationality cannot leave the country without the permission of the court and should come on weekly bases to the closest court to his office.
Al-Jazeera TV welcomed the decision of the Spanish judge. The director of its office in Brussels Ahmad Kamel said after visiting Allouni in Soto Del Reyal ( 37 Km to the north of Madrid, where Allouni is being held since September, "we are happy for him, his children and family."
