Al-Assad and King Carlos visit National Museum
Syria-Spain, Local, 10/21/2003

President Bashar al-Assad, his wife Mrs. Asmaa al-Assad, King of Spain, Juan Carlos and wife Queen Sofia visited today the National Museum in Damascus where an exhibition for the Spanish Artist Alberto Carathone was opened.

The visitors toured around the pavilions of the exhibition which includes Syrian historical ruins.

After this visit, they headed to Umayyad Mosque where they were received by Minister of Awkaf, Muhammad Zeada.

On the other hand, Syria's First Lady Asmaa al-Assad welcomed yesterday Queen Sofia at her residence in Damascus. Talks during the meeting dealt with issues of mutual concern particularly the role of the small loans in improving standards of living for the Syrian families in addition to reviewing the situation of the Syrian woman and her achievements in different fields.

Later, Mrs. al-Assad accompanied her Queen Sofia toured the historical al-Tukia al-Sulimania in Damascus. Queen Sofia expressed admiration over the classical artistic industry that she has seen in the city.
