Turkey: sending troops to Iraq depends on Iraqi people's desire
Iraq-Turkey, Politics, 10/20/2003
Turkey's prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey was not and is still not encouraged to send troops to Iraq, and that the Turkish army will not go to any place it is not wanted or desired. This was in reply to the call made by Washington to wait concerning the issue of sending Turkish forces to Iraq.
In a statement he made yesterday, Ardogan indicated the failure of the American to control the security situation in Iraq and the contradiction in the US stances; regretting Washington's hesitant stances in requesting sending the Turkish army to Iraq.
Meantime, director general of Iraq's North Oil company Adel Qazzaz announced yesterday the resumption of pumping Iraqi oil through the northern oil pipeline, which arrives in the Turkish port of Jeihan, was just for experimental purposes.
