Former Mauritanian president passes away

Mauritania's first president, Mokhtar Ould Daddah passed away after a long disease in Paris, sources close to his family announced on Tuesday evening.
The former president passed away after being hospitalized for several weeks in the Paris "Val de Grce" hospital.
The late Ould Daddah was the first president of Mauritania from 1960 to 1978, when he was overthrown by a coup d'Etat.
After 23 years of voluntary exile in Nice, south of France, the late president returned back to Mauritania in July 2001.
