Morocco-France, Politics, 10/13/2003

Morocco's Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Abdelouahed Radi, hailed in Rabat Saturday France's commitment to restore peace in the world, particularly in Africa and the Middle East by "backing the Palestinian people's legitimate claim for a free and independent state."

Radi made the statement in a speech at the parliament's two chambers which held a special session during which visiting French president, Jacques Chirac addressed Moroccan representatives on the last day of his state visit to the Kingdom.

"The Moroccan people will not forget France's infallible understanding of the question of Morocco's territorial integrity, nor your role, Mr. President, (.) to bring its just cause to a successful end," the Moroccan speaker underlined.

The speaker also highlighted France's opposition to war on Iraq and its unflagging actions to defend the Arab country's unity, territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty."

Radi further underlined that Moroccan-French cooperation, which he termed as "multidimensional," "ideal" and "mutually advantageous," is materialized in all political, economic, cultural and human realms.

He added that Morocco is strongly determined to carry on efforts for the country's development with the precious help of its partners and friends," including France.
