Al-Shara confers with Lebanese information minister
Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 10/13/2003

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara met in Damascus Lebanese Minister of Information, Michael Smaha.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the region and issues of mutual concern. Minister of Information, Ahmad al-Hasan received also his Lebanese counterpart, Michael Smaha and an accompanying delegation.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the standing relations and cooperation between the two states and "means of boosting the role of the joint information in facing the Israeli war government's aggressions."

In a statement to press, Smaha underlined that his visit to Syria confirms the Syrian-Lebanese solidarity and their unified stance towards the Israeli aggression.

He stressed "the importance of coordination and cooperation to activate the joint information action during this critical stage to cope with the political and diplomatic ones."

He pointed out that Syria and Lebanon resorted to the UN because they believe that it is the proper way to deter Israel from its aggressive practices.

For his part, al-Hasan stressed that this visit comes within the frame work of the continuous consultations between Syria and Lebanon to activate the informational joint action.
