Demonstrations in the Galilee against the strike on Syria
Syria-Israel, Politics, 10/11/2003
The Arab movement "the change," led by the Arab parliamentarian in the Israeli Knesset Ahmad al-Teibi yesterday organized several demonstrations on crossroads in the Galilee in protest of the recent Israeli air raids against the Syrian territories, in which hundreds demonstrators took place.
A statement by the movement said that the demonstrators carried banners in Arabic, Hebrew and English languages in which were written "the Israeli raid against Syria is a war crime" and "no to air sniping."
Lawyer Osama al-Saadi, the movement's secretary general, said that the demonstrators also raised banners condemning the Israeli occupation of Rafah and a slogan saying "Sharon get away, Palestine is a free land."
In an emergency meeting for the Israeli Knesset on Thursday al-Teibi debated the question of the Israeli raid against Syria describing it as "a crime and a grave development threatening the security of the region as whole."
