Al-Assad confers with Larsen; Syria praised for using diplomacy

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received on Thursday the international Peace Envoy to the Middle East, Terje Roed-Larsen and an accompanying delegation on the Israeli aggression on Syrian lands.

President Assad reviewed the prevailing situation in the region stressing that the Israeli government is "a war government."

For his part, Roed-Larsen expressed strong disappointment due to the Israeli aggression on the Syrian lands stressing UN Secretary General's solidarity with Syria.

He also welcomed "Syria's wise response in bringing this issue to the UN Security Council."
