Oman exempts Palestinian goods from customs tax

"The Sultanate has decided to exempt Palestinian products and commodities from customs duties and allowing import of Palestinian goods without any restrictions on their types or quantities," Oman's News Agency reported yesterday.
Al Watan Newspaper reported yesterday that "Ahmed bin Abdul Nabi Macki, Minister of National Economy andÊ Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, had issued a decision to this effect. It will be implemented ret-respectivelyÊ from 14th September this year," the report added.
The report added "The Sultanate's decision was in implementation of a resolution passed by the Arab summit held in Cairo on 21 October 2000 and the AGCC unified customs law/system endorsed by the 22nd summit of the AGCC supreme council convened in Muscat in December 2001."
Also, Oman's News Agency said "The Council of Ministers made a decision on the tax exemption at its meeting on 20th May this year.
