Qathafi warns Italy of damage to its interests in Libya

Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi yesterday threatened Italy that it will damage "its interests in Libya," unless it pays compensations for the years of the Italian occupation of Libya.

In a women's festival in Mesrata held on the occasion of the expulsion of the Italian occupation from Libya in 1969, Qathafi said that Italy "will damage its interests in Libya and it will be a great loss for the Italian companies if Italy does not implementing the agreement finalized with Libya to compensate Libyans at for its occupation."

However, once again Qathafi described Italy in the same speech as a friendly country which backed Libya during the Lockerbie crisis.
