Bensaidi's Mille Mois acreened at NY Film Festival
Morocco, Local, 10/8/2003

Faouzi Bensaidi's "Mille Mois (one thousand months)" was screened last weekend at the 41st Film festival of New York, held October 3-19.

Showbizz stars including Clint Eastwood and Sean Penn were among the public of the Moroccan director's first long movie.

The 1h24 film was awarded the special prize of the jury at Belgium's Namur film festival and another award at the French Cannes Festival. The comedy-drama is about Mehdi, an eight year-old boy growing up in a Moroccan village. He's the center of the tale and most things are seen from his perspective. His father, whom he has been told is "in France," is in prison for his participation in a labor strike. The tale takes place during the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan, the final days of which are very important, it's like "A Thousand Months."
