Just peace in ME should be based on Madrid terms of reference, minister
Syria-Israel, Politics, 10/8/2003

Syria's Minister of Information Ahmad al-Hasan has stressed that just and comprehensive peace in the region should be based on "Madrid terms of reference," "land for peace formula" and the relevant international resolutions asserting that the Israeli provocative practices threaten peace and security in the region.

In a remarks to al-Sharq al-Awsat news paper issued yesterday, al-Hasan confirmed that the video tape which shows what Israel claimed to be a "Palestinian training center" is a falsified film used to justify the Israeli aggression on Syria.

He described this aggression as a clear expression of the Israeli dilemma particularly after Haifa's martyrdom operation which destroyed Sharon's lies of realizing security. "This aggression is an attempt to distract the internal crisis through expanding the circle of aggression" al-Hasan said.

He underlined the important role of the United Nations in combating this dangerous development and averting the region the repercussions of expanding the battlefield.

"We are sorry for hearing the American representative justifying the aggression claiming that Syria is in the wrong side in combating terrorism at a time Israel practices terrorism and violates international law" al-Hasan added.
