Israeli soldier killed in clashes with Hizbullah party
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 10/7/2003
Israeli sources said that one Israeli soldier was killed and two others wounded on the borders between Lebanon and Israel in an ambush by fighters of the Hizbullah party against an Israeli military vehicle near the Fatemah border gate.
In another incident in the border area, an official at the UN said that a UN car was exposed to fire from the Israeli side on the border with Lebanon.
Lebanese security sources said that Israeli soldiers opened fire over the Lebanese cars on Kafer Kala - Odeisah road under pretext that they were exposed to fire from the Lebanese side. Security sources said the Israeli forces bombarded the outskirts of Kafer Shouba border village. An Israeli military spokesman denied that the Israeli forces bombarded objectives in south Lebanon.
These developments come after the Lebanese Hizbullah party announced "total commitment to the unity fate and destiny with Syria." In a statement, the statement denounced the Israeli raid against Syria. It said that "the Zionist aggression against Syria is a very flagrant violation of all red lines and the bases of the conflict since almost three decades."
