Bahrain: provocation, extremism are inseparable

King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said that "Bahrain will not be soft in dealing with terrorist acts in and around it," days following an attack that targeted a patrol for the Bahraini police in which five members of the patrol were injured."

The King of Bahrain said after his meeting with the minister of the interior Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa and senior security figures that "provocation for extremism and violence made by certain forums can not be separated from acts of terrorism." He added it is not appropriate to use terrorist acts as a pretext against our democratic renewed march," adding "at a time when Bahrain's parliament is internationally welcomed to join the Inter- Parliamentary Union, it is our right to question the aim behind yesterday's incident and whether it was pre-fabricated or an isolated incident."

Opposition political societies, the main representatives for the Shiite majority in Bahrain denounced the incident and considered it as a "sort of practice that use violence as a means that does not cope with the spirit of tolerance and dialogue, the people of Bahrain are known for." The societies called for considering this incident as "an irresponsible isolated act."

The condemnation statement was issued under the name of "national reconciliation" which represents the main trend among the Shiite, the "Democratic national action society; "the coalition of left, nationalists and independents," "al-Wasat al-Arab al-Islami" society; the democratic progressive forum,"" the Islamic action," and the "democratic national coalition."

At al- Jafeer area, the headquarters of the fifth American fleet, the commander of the fleet Timothy Getting said that the American forces want to keep enough force in the Middle East in a way "that we can confront any crisis in the world. We want t keep a certain degree of our forces deployment in the Gulf." Getting who will be replaced tomorrow by a new leader for the fleet David Nicole who said that the American forces has 50 warship in the area currently, in comparison with 180 warships during the war on Iraq.
